AUBURN — After exchanging the lead five times, the Solano Mudcats outlasted the Auburn Wildcats 8-7, Friday.

A walk by Nick Perez in the top of the fourth scored Mike Secrist as the Mudcats held on to the lead for good.

Solano took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning as Mark Foley hit a double. The hit brought in Joe Murray (who earlier reached on an error), Tucker Bishop (who singled) and Nick Perez who walked.

The Mudcats scored again when Foley scored on a sac-fly by Hudson Bishop.

Donnie Gardner went 6 2/3 innings to get the win, allowing one earned run on three hits. Jesse Savage earned his first save to wrap up the victory.

The Mudcats play the Wildcats again Monday at James Field in Auburn at 6 p.m.
