Falcons to host home run derby today
ROCKVILLE — The Solano Community College baseball team will host a home run derby today at noon at Billy and Louise Yarbrough Stadium.
It’s a fundraiser for the baseball program, which has seen its budget shrink in recent years because of the state budget shortfall.
Falcons coach Scott Stover said in a press release that five alumni will face off against current players.
The slugging alumni include 2010 Oakland Athletics draftee Ryan Lipkin, 2006 Colorado Rockies draftee Vic Ferrante, Tommy Pavesi (10 home runs in 2007), Ruben Perez and Pat LeMelle.
