VACAVILLE — The Vanden High boys basketball team was outscored 25-11 in the second quarter and never recovered in falling 65-60 to Vacaville in a nonleague game, Tuesday.
“It took us a while to get going overall,” Vikings coach Micheal Holloway said. “We only shot 15 shots in the first half. We were 6 for 15 in the first half. We couldn’t get anything going offensively. I think we had more free throws in the second quarter than we had field goals. It’s kind of tough especially, when you give up 25 points.”
DeMarre Walker led Vanden (4-2) with 13 points, followed by Rashad Fisher with 12.
The Vikings next play Campolindo of Moraga at Merritt College of Oakland on Friday at 6 p.m.
Vacaville JV 54, Vanden 43: At Vacaville, the Vikings (1-5) got eight points from Anthony Anchante and six from Xavier Hernandez in a loss to the Bulldogs.
Vanden plays against Campolindo at Lake Merritt College at 4 p.m., Friday.
Woodland Christian 82, Buckingham Charter 61: At Woodland, the Knights (4-3) couldn’t control the fast break of the opposition in dropping a nonleague game.
“They must have had 25 points on their fast break,” Buckingham coach Dan Curry said.
Joey Morales led the Knights with 13 points, followed by Kenton Dewald with 12.
