Prep volleyball: Vanden rolls to win over Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — Mackensie Murphy went 17 for 17 with five aces on serves and added four kills, four digs and 10 assists to help lift the Vanden High volleyball team to a 15-12, 15-12, 15-11 win over Fairfield at Jim Boyd Gym, Tuesday.

Also for the Vikings (6-2, 4-1 SCAC), Michaela Copp had five blocks and was 6 for 6 with an ace on serves, K.C. Nicdao had one kills and five assists and was 6 for 6 with an ace, and Jennifer Roberts had two kills and three blocks and was 2 for 2.

Vanden also won the JV match 15-4, 15-11 with the Vikings (4-4, 3-2) being led by Jordyn Plaza, who was 6 for 6 with three aces and five assists, Samantha Canoy, who was 8 for 8 with two aces, and Kiara Jackson, who was  7 for 7 with four aces.

Vanden next plays at American Canyon on Thursday.

Rodriguez 3, Armijo 0: At Fairfield, the Mustangs swept the Indians 25-10, 25-19, 25-5 in Monticello Empire League play, Monday.

Jade Horder led Rodriguez (12-3, 3-2 MEL) with 27 assists and added six aces, while Ysabel Rose had 13 assists and six aces.

Megan Bohorquez added 15 kills for the Mustangs, with Elyssa Flores collecting seven kills

Brittany Saechao led the Indians (0-9, 0-5 MEL) with seven digs, while adding an assist and an ace.

Seghen Woldai had two kills and two blocks for Armijo, while Analise Klassen had two blocks and an assist.

The Indians play at home against Napa, Wednesday, while Rodriguez play at Vacaville, also Wednesday.

VCS 3, Golden Sierra 1: At Vacaville, the Falcons (8-3, 3-0 SDL) picked up a 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24 Sierra Delta League win, Monday.

Cassi Diaz and Hailey Kenyon each had 11 kills for VCS, with Kenyon adding a team-high six blocks.

Ari Bio and Lauren Gottschall both had seven kills for the Falcons, who play Highlands, Wednesday.
