Solano women cruise past Contra Costa, 86-62

SAN PABLO — The Solano Community College women’s basketball team remained undefeated in Bay Valley Conference play with a 86-62 win over Contra Costa College, Wednesday.

The Falcons (17-4, 8-0 BVC) led 44-27 at the half and never looked back.

“We had balanced scoring and a fantastic defensive effort,” SCC coach Matt Borchert said. “We held them to 19 points below their season average.”

Taylor Hamilton led the Falcons with 18 points, while Ariel Clay and Nikki Andaya each scored 13. Audrey Jones chipped in 11 points and Laura Lawson scored 10.

Solano is back in action at home against Yuba College, Friday.

Indians drop heartbreaker; Vikings down Jaguars

NAPA — The Armijo High wrestling team suffered a close 36-35 Monticello Empire League match to Napa, Wednesday.

The Indians (1-2) led 35-30 heading in the final match at heavyweights, only needing not to be pinned for the win, but couldn’t avoid the fall.

Darius Levan (108 pounds), Jorge Perez (154), Amini Kapapa (172) and Chris Elkin (220) all won by pin for the Indians. Hayden Scibek (140, 16-0) won by technical fall, while Houston Scibek (115, 6-0), and Billy Cimmino (197, 6-5) won decisions.

Armijo is at Vintage next Wednesday.

Vanden 42, Bethel 27: At Vallejo, the Vikings (1-2) picked up their first Solano County Athletic Conference win of the season.

Matt Lewis (134 pounds) and Fernando Angelo (140) won by pin for Vanden while Joey Zambori (115, 7-5) and Brandon Dontogan (184, 9-5) won by decision.

Daniel Remberger (108), Caleb Arbona (147), Derek Bruner (154) and Alberto Bernales (162) won by forfeit for the Vikings.

Vanden hosts Vallejo next Wednesday.
