RENO, Nev. — The Fairfield Expos had four hits but could not bring any runners home as it fell 2-0 to Chaffey of Redmond, Wash., in the Reno Tournament Thursday.
Matthew Sherman, JP San Antonio, Jason Brasile and Jack Gamba had the only hits for the Expos.
Chaffey's winning pitcher was Kash Koltermann, who went six innings, allowing three hits, three walks, while striking out three.
The Expos play the Petaluma Leghorns in Reno at 12:30 p.m., Friday
Indians get win over Novato Knicks
FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Indians have won eight of its last 11 games, and continued the winning trend as its solid pitching and defense contributed to the 5-1 win over the Novato Knicks, Wednesday.
The Indians turned four double plays and committed no errors, behind the pitching staff that allowed five hits in the first three innings, but only three in the last six.
The Indians' first three runs came in the bottom of third as Mark Mils led off the inning with a double, advancing to second when Dareion Evans was hit by a pitch. Rupert Watson then doubled, plating Mils, while Evans and Watson scored on a sac-fly from Evan Ray and a fielder's choice from Danny Mills.
Ray hit a solo-shot in the fourth inning, while Bryce Hutchings scored on a base-hit by Timmion Hughes in the fifth.
Francisco Avilez earned the win, pitching six innings, scattering five hits and striking out one.
The Indians travel to Southern California to play a three-game series against the North County Indians, beginning Friday in Templeton.
