Big inning lifts Vanden softball team past Bethel

VALLEJO — Alexis McMahon hit a grand slam in a 13-run sixth inning to give the Vanden High softball team 16-1 victory over Bethel in Solano County Athletic Conference play, Friday.

Hope Brandner added a three-run homer in the sixth for the Vikings (9-4, 4-1 SCAC) and ended with four RBIs, while Kiwi McDaniel was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Bailey Tingley was in the circle , pitching all five innings, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.

The Vikings had as many hits as they did walks with 10 and every player who had a plate appearance scored at least one run.

The Vikings host American Canyon, Wednesday.

Vallejo 8, Fairfield 3: At Vallejo, Lulu McKee went 2 for 3 with a double in a losing cause for the Falcons (1-11, 0-10 SCAC). Mariah Andersen and Monica Chapa each went 1 for 3 with an RBI, while Adriana Lopez was 1 for 2. Clarissa Contreras drove in a run.

Fairfield hosts Dixon in a nonleague game, Monday.

Vikings roll to 9-0 win over Benicia

BENICIA — The Vanden High boys tennis team had no trouble with Benicia in Solano County Athletic Conference play, Friday, sweeping the Panthers 9-0.

Antonio Ramirez had a deciding win at No. 6 singles for the Vikings (12-1), defeating Benicia’s Brandon Baza 6-0, 6-1, while Joseph Brooks defeated Adrian Kwan 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

The only match to go three sets was at No. 2 doubles as Vanden’s Cameron Hoover and Dustin Edmonds won 6-3, 6-7, 7-4 over Andrew Butawan and Josh Crisostama of the Panthers.

The Vikings travel to American Canyon, Tuesday.

Prep badminton

Mustangs sweep way past Bulldogs

FAIRFIELD — The Rodriguez High badminton team defeated Vacaville 15-0 in Monticello Empire League action, Friday.

Double winners for the Mustangs were Bianca Cortez, Raiza Balancio, Mikaela Peralta, Janelle Sandhu, Kristine Paeste, Lei Paeste, Nicole Vu and Angelica Dagcuta.

Rodriguez hosts Napa, Wednesday.

Armijo 15, Napa 0: At Fairfield, Stephanie Sek rolled through her match at No. 6 singles as she won 21-2, 21-3 for the Indians (10-2, 9-1 MEL).

In No. 2 doubles action, Chelsea Oey and Sarah Youn won 21-6, 21-5, while Lissett Gil and Adriana Rodriguez won 21-7, 21-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Armijo hosts Vacaville, Monday.
