FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Lady Hoopers basketball team went 4-0 to capture the championship in the Memorial Day Jam in Reno.
The Lady Hoopers opened the tournament with a 75-61 victory with Jenessa Souza leading the way with 29 points.
They then topped the Tigers 51-42 with Sierra Chapman scoring 19 points, and Souza and Briyonna Dominique each adding 14.
The Lady Hoopers advanced to the championship game with a convincing 59-36 victory over the Golden City SF Black. Chapman was tops with 15 points, followed by Myli Martinez and Amaya Cudgo with 10 each.
The title game wasn’t close, either, as the Lady Hoopers rolled past the NCA Blue 69-54. Chapman again led the team with 18 points, with Souza netting 14 and Martinez and Dominique adding 12 each.
Jameela Easterling, Nikki Balmaceda and Kaylee Alana provided solid defense that helped contribute to the victory.
