ROSEVILLE — The Buckingham Charter boys basketball team saw its school-record 12-game winning streak snapped with a 97-95 double-overtime loss to Valley Christian on Saturday night.

The score was tied at 73 after regulation and at 84 after the first overtime. Limited to a roster of 10 because of injuries, the Knights (12-4, 3-1 Sacramento Metro Athletic League) had four players foul out before it was over.

“That kind of wore us down at the end,” Buckingham Charter coach Dan Curry said. “We had two kids out with injuries. Ten kids played hard all night long for us.”

Joey Niccum led the Knights with 27 points and added 15 rebounds and four blocks. Noah Schmidt contributed 24 points, while Josh Niccum had 19 points and seven rebounds.

Buckingham Charter is off until it hosts Sacramento Adventist on Jan. 22.
