FAIRFIELD — Chris McCollister ripped a three-run double to highlight a six-run sixth inning as the Fairfield Indians collegiate baseball team rallied for an 8-4 win over the Sonoma County Chili Gods at Allan Witt Park, Wednesday.
Fairfield clinched the Sacramento Rural League regular season title with the victory and a 10-6 SRL record.
The Indians got two runs in the bottom of the fourth when Damian Marshall’s two-out double plated McCollister and Mark Mills.
After the Chili Gods took the lead with four runs in the top of the fifth, the Indians took the lead for good in the sixth.
Danny Mills doubled in Damian Marshall and McCollister’s double scored Mills, Bryce Hutchings and Timmion Hughes.
The last two runs were scored on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Rupert Watson.
McCollister, Marshall and Mills each went 2 for 4 with a double.
Zack Mandrick pitched three scoreless innings in relief to get the victory, striking out four.
The Indians entertain the San Leandro on Saturday at 11 a.m. as well as the SRL playoffs on July 26 and 27.
