STOCKTON — After two straight wins, the Fairfield High football team was blanked 67-0 by host Stagg of Stockton Friday night.
The Falcons, “ran into a buzz-saw,” as coach David Fishleigh put it, allowing the Delta Kings to score a touchdown every time they had the ball.
“They were clicking on all cylinders,” Fishleaigh added.
That much was apparent as Stagg’s Daniel Ruffin ran for a 35-yard touchdown the first time he possessed the ball, finishing as the Delta Kings’ leading rusher, with a team-high 80 yards on the ground.
Fishleigh admitted that the Falcons were, “Dominated offensively, defensively, and on special teams.”
Some of the biggest plays for Stagg came on a 78-yard punt return by Lester Williams and a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown by Ruffin.
Williams also caught a 75-yard touchdown on a swing pass from Brooks, who finished 6 of 10 with three touchdowns and 144 yards passing.
Fairfield did not make many mistakes, the Falcons just did not have any big plays.
Quarterback, Michael Arredondo finished an efficient 10 of 14, for 71 yards.
The Falcons rushing squad, on the other hand, finished with only 37 total yards, with Dammoni Quinney leading the way with 21 yards.
The Delta Kings ended their night with a total of 248 rush yards, with five of their six rushers finishing with at least one touchdown.
Stagg finished with 144 yards in the air.
A total of eight different players scored for Stagg on the offensive side of the ball.
“We’ll bounce back,” said Fishleigh after the game. “That was just a really good football team over there.”
Fairfield is now 2-2 and looks to go back over .500 as they play their cross-town rival, Armijo, Friday.
