VISALIA — Fairfield High’s Alejandra Sanchez-Hernandez lost in the semifinals but rebounded with two wins to finish third in the CIF State Girls Championships at the Visalia Convention Center on Saturday.

Sanchez-Hernandez lost her semifinals match to top-seeded Dominique Parrish by a pin in 5 minutes, 29 seconds after Parrish led 10-4.

After a pin of Eva Piroth of Albany in the consolation semifinals, Sanchez-Hernandez ran away with a 20-2 major decision over Inez Martinez of Mountain View in the third-place match.

“She probably wrestled her best tournament ever,” Falcon coach Kyle Holsworth said. “She beat a lot of tough opponents and I’m really proud of her.”
