Fairfield Expos sweep doubleheader from Humboldt Eagles

ARCATA — The Fairfield Expos American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader from the Humboldt Eagles, Tuesday.

The Expos won the first game 9-0 and the second 11-2.

Troy Nixon pitched a complete-game two-hitter in the opener, striking out one and walking one.

Jake Hedrick, Cameron Michael, Jason Brasile and Jack Gamba each had two hits for Fairfield, with Michael and Hedrick each collecting a double.

Garlind Webster finished 1 for 4 with two RBIs, while Brasile also drove in two runs.

Payton Tyler got the win in the second game, scattering two hits and two runs in five innings of work. Justin Lee pitched two scoreless perfect innings.

Jo Jo Quintanilla was 3 for 5 at the plate with a double and three RBIs, while Hedrick, Carter Bins, Webster, Anthony Kaleczyc and David Hostler each had two hits.

Bins, Webster and Gamba each drove in two runs.

The Expos wrap up a three-game series with the Eagles Wednesday at 10 a.m.
