RENO, NV. — The Fairfield Expos made the most of its hits but couldn’t get the extra runs it needed for the victory, falling to the Reno Knights 6-5, Wednesday.
The Expos only needed seven hits to score five runs, leaving three stranded, compared to the Knights’ four left on base. The Knights had 12 hits, including home runs from Brock Tsukamoto and Jeremy Peterson.
Jo Jo Quintanilla went deep for the Expos, with Garlind Webster hitting a double, the only other extra-base hit for the Expos.
Tied at two apiece after the first two innings, the Expos plated two in the top of the third, but gave up three in the bottom of the inning and never recovered.
The Knights’ Jeremy Speth was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, striking out four.
Cameron Michael led the Expos with three RBIs, while Quintanilla had two.
The Expos continue their Reno trip with a game against the Redmond (Wash.) Chaffey, Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
