FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield High boys basketball team remained unbeaten in Solano County Athletic Conference play with a 68-43 win over Benicia, Thursday.
The Falcons (17-3, 2-0 SCAC), who led 35-23 at the half, were led by DeMoriaye Hart-Spikes’ 15, while Sean Gray and Maurice Trotter each scored 11.
Fairfield also picked up a 62-41 win over American Canyon, Tuesday.
The Falcons play at Bethel this Tuesday.
Vanden 75, Bethel 57: At Vallejo, the Vikings (10-9, 2-1 SCAC) led 35-31 at the half before outscoring the Jaguars 40-26 over the final two quarters.
“We kept letting them back in the game,” Vanden coach Micheal Holloway said. The third quarter we just took off. We played really well on defense and we shared the ball really well.”
The Vikings also got a lift with the return of forward Joey Kuzbiski, who’d been sidelined since suffering a knee injury on Dec. 12. The senior had five points and eight rebounds.
“He came back and played really well,” Holloway said.
So did DeMarre Walker, who led the Vikings with 21 points, while Jihad Woods netted 16 and Jansen Smith scored nine, including his first high school dunk, and added 13 rebounds.
Vanden’s JV team lost 50-37 with the Vikings (3-10, 0-3 SCAC) getting seven points from Phoenix Shackelford and six from Halim Whiteside.
Vanden next plays Grant of Sacramento in the Adidas Invitational at Sheldon of Sacramento on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Vikings return to SCAC play by hosting American Canyon on Tuesday.
