FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Expos pulled off an impressive – and unorthodox – doubleheader sweep on Sunday, blanking the Castro Valley Thunder Sox 11-0 at Laurel Creek Park before hitting the road to demolish Yolo Post 77 14-0 in Woodland.
In the first game, which was called after five innings, Jake Brandt went the distance, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six.
The Expos blew it open with eight runs in the third inning.
Jake Hedrick, Garlind Webster, Will Baker and Jason Brasile each went 2 for 3 with Hedrick doubling and Webster doubling and tripling.
Baker and Webster each finished with two RBIs.
The second game went nine innings with the Expos scoring in six of them, including five in the second.
Hedrick and Jack Gamba each went 4 for 5 with the former getting a double and three RBIs. Baker was 3 for 6 with a double and five RBIs, while Brasile had two hits and Carter Bins drove in three runs. Bins also scored three runs, as did J.P. San Antonio.
Troy Nixon fired a four-hit shutout, striking out three and walking two.
