FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Expos were firing on all cylinders, allowing just one hit in its 10-0 rout over the Mudville 9 at Laurel Creek Park, Thursday, in the Western Amateur Baseball Federation tournament.
Payton Tyler earned the win, allowing the only hit in four innings of work, striking out four with two walks. David Hostler pitched the fifth and final inning, walking one and striking out three.
The Expos combined for 11 hits, with the heart of the lineup doing the most damage. The 3-4-5-6 hitters combined for eight hits and six runs.
Cameron Michael was 2 for 2 with one RBI, while Garlind Webster and Carter Bins were each 2 for 3 with two RBIs apiece. Matthew Sherman was 2 for 3 with one RBI.
Jake Hedrick, Anthony Kaleczyc and Jack Gamba had the other hits for the Expos.
The Expos play Lodi at 7 p.m., Saturday, at Laurel Creek Park.
Fairfield Pacific 11-12s blast Sonoma 13-2
ST. HELENA — The 11- and -12 year-old Fairfield Pacific All-Stars defeated the Sonoma All-Stars 13-2, Thursday.
The win was sweeter than face-value since Sonoma defeated Fairfield Pacific in last year’s 10-11 championship game.
With the exception of the first inning, Fairfield Pacific scored two runs or more in every inning.
Carlvesi Light, CJ Laui, Sammy Meadows, Victor Martinez and Mateo Ponce each had two hits for Fairfield Pacific. Cameron Martin, DJ Scott and Robert Gabbart each had one hit.
Laui was led the team with four RBIs with his two home run. Martinez also had a home run, ending the day 2 for 3.
Sammy Meadows went 4 2-3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts. Martinez came in relief pitching 1 1-3 innings, allowing only one hit.
Fairfield Pacific plays again Friday against Napa American at 9 a.m. in St. Helena.
