Expos close WABF tourney with 14-4 victory

FAIRFIELD — Cameron Michael ripped a three-run double that followed a two-run single by Carter Bins to highlight a nine-run fourth inning for the Fairfield Expos American Legion baseball team in a 14-4 win over Yolo Post 77 in a game in the Western Baseball Amateur Baseball Federation tournament at Laurel Creek Park, Sunday.

Bins finished 2 for 4 with four RBIs and Michael 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Will Baker, Matthew Lanza, Jo Jo Quintanilla and Nate Minster each had two hits, both of Quintanilla’s and one for Minster and Lanza going for doubles. Quintanilla and Minster each drove in two runs, while Quintanilla, Minster and Anthony Kaleczyc all scored three times.

Jake Brandt, the second of four pitchers, picked up the victory with a scoreless fourth inning.

The Expos (26-14) finished fifth in the tournament and head to Arcata for a doubleheader with the Humboldt Eagles on Tuesday.

Lodi will play Chico for the WABF championship on Monday at Laurel Creek Park at 10 a.m.
