Expos can’t meet the Challengers, fall 6-2

EUGENE, Ore. — Eight of the nine batters in the lineup for the Fairfield Expos American Legion baseball team got hits, but it didn’t lead to many runs in a 6-2 loss to the Eugene Challengers, Wednesday.

Jake Hedrick, Nate Minster and Anthony Kaleczyc each had two hits, one of Kaleczyc’s going for a double, while Hedrick and Matthew Lanza each drove in runs.

Will Baker, Matthew Sherman and Jack Gamba did the pitching for the Fairfield squad, Sherman taking the defeat.

The Expos (14-6-1) open a tournament at Willamette University of Salem, Ore., against the Canyon Crushers of Stayton, Ore., on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
