VACAVILLE — After dropping a 5-3 decision in the first game, the Solano Mudcats collegiate baseball team salvaged a doubleheader split by downing San Leandro Ports 5-4 in the second game at Will C. Wood High, Sunday.

Mark Foley hit a two-run single that plated Cody Marshall and Joe Murray in the sixth inning to put the Mudcats up to stay in the second game.

Gordie Clary went three scoreless innings to get the victory, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out four.

In the opener, the Mudcats didn’t get on the board until the seventh inning when they picked up all of their runs. Jared Carr took the loss.

The Mudcats host the Sacramento Heat at Will C. Wood on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
