Chitwood’s single lifts Mudcats past Storm

VACAVILLE — Drew Chitwood hit a walk-off single to give the Solano Mudcats a 8-7 win over the South Bay Storm at Will C. Wood, Wednesday.

Chitwood was 2 for 2 at the plate, hitting singles in the eighth and ninth innings. Gordie Clary led the Mudcats, reaching base four times, including a single in the second inning and a double in the fifth.

Jared Carr earned the win for the Mudcats, pitching a one scoreless inning, striking out one.

The Mudcats took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, also scoring in the second, third, seventh and ninth innings.

A run in the second came from Alvaro Rubacaba taking a bases-loaded walk, plating Clary. In the third, Tucker Bishop scored on a passed ball. In the eighth, Chad Fortney hit a two-run single, while Nick Spini hit an RBI-single.
