VACAVILLE — Josh Niccum poured in 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds and made four steals to power the Buckingham Charter boys basketball team to a 75-32 nonleague victory over Esparto at Vaca Pena Middle School on Monday.

Noah Schmidt added 11 points and five rebounds, while Bill Kennedy netted 12 points, including three 3-pointers, to help lead the Knights (2-3).

“We’ve got a team full of seniors,” Buckingham Charter coach Dan Curry said. “When they play together and share the ball, it’s exciting for the school. They just have to do it consistently.”

The Knights host Sacramento Waldorf on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Buckingham Charter girls 38, Esparto 22: At Vacaville, the Knights (1-4) earned their first victory of the season as Jasmine Gonzalez had 16 points, 12 rebounds and five steals, Michelle Brooks had eight points, six rebounds and six steals, and Jasmine Coutee had three steals.

“It was a great team effort,” Buckingham Charter coach Tessa Treets said. “They kind of came together, they’re starting to gel a little bit. We’re excited about that.”

The Knights are off until next Tuesday when they host Woodland Christian.
