Armijo wrestlers rip Napa, 51-18

FAIRFIELD — The Armijo High wrestling team got its first Monticello Empire League victory Wednesday, hammering visiting Napa 51-18.

En route to the win, the Indians (1-2 MEL) racked up 10 individual wins, including six pins.

At 154 pounds, Jorge Perez won with a second-round pin. Amini Kapapa (162 pounds) also scored a second-round pin.

Danny Charos (184) won by pin in the first round. At 195s, Billy Cimino needed double overtime for a 3-2 victory.

Heavyweight Kris Elkin earned a pin in the first round, as did Darius Levan at 108. Terrance Saeteurn (114 pounds) won by decision, 9-8.

Cameron Hibbert (128) won by pin in the second round. At 134 pounds, Hayden Scibek won by technical fall, 19-4. Dennis Mattuzzi (140) won by major decision.

The Indians split up this weekend to wrestle at the Tim Brown and Lindhurst tournaments.

Bethel 35, Vanden 21: At Fairfield, the Vikings earned one victory on the mat to go with three forfeits.

Fernando Angelo earned a 6-4 decision at 138 pounds, while George Zambori (106), Nick Palacios (170) and Brandon Dontogan (182) all won by forfeit.

Vanden visits Vallejo next Wednesday.
