Armijo rolls to 8-0 girls soccer win over Fairfield

FAIRFIELD— The Armijo High girls soccer team had eight different players find the net in rolling to an 8-0 nonleague victory over Fairfield at Brownlee Field, Monday.

The Indians (2-0) got off to a blazing start, and never looked back as Monique Evans, Dulce Armas and Mikayla Elder each scored a goal in the first 15 minutes of the match.
Megan Welsh, Lauryn William and Leeza O’Young each added a goal later in the half, which ended with the Indians up 6-0.
Ileana Pichardo and Amanda Bernal added a goal in the second half to round out the scoring.
With Armijo was plagued with injuries heading into Monday’g game, coach Brad Burzynski chose to bring up three junior varsity players – Gabby Willey, Alyssa Heffernan and Kylee Webster – to gain experience.
The Indians travel to Stockton, Wednesday, where they face off against Lincoln at 5:30 p.m.
