Armijo girls take seventh place in tourney

VACAVILLE — The Armijo High girls basketball team locked up a seventh place finish in the Power of One Tournament, as it defeated Yuba City 37-30, Saturday.
The Indians (4-9) scored 16 points in the first half, leading the Honkers by one. In the third, the Indians matched their halftime score of 16, and only allowed Yuba City to score two.
Kira Wilson led Armijo in scoring with nine points.
Passion Ware had eight points and 19 rebounds — seven coming in the third, with five of those being offensive boards.
Ware was named to the all-tournament team.
The Indians travel to Elk Grove to take one Franklin, Tuesday.

Vanden JV 44, Clovis West 26: At Fresno, the Vikings (9-4) were led by Monet Lewis and Krystal Gonzales as they scored nine points apiece, while Azanae Lewis and Afrika Collier scored eight points, each.
Vanden travels to play Napa, Wednesday, at 5:30 p.m.

SCC defeats BVC rival in rout
ROCKVILLE — The Solano Community College womens basketball team blew past Bay Valley Conference rival, Laney, in a 101-66 rout, Saturday.
Taylor Hamilton led the Falcons (11-4, 2-0 BVC) in scoring with 22 points, adding six steals and two assists.
Kristina Kountouris was next with 13 points and six boards, while Denisha Lundy had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Laura Lawson led SCC in rebounds with 13, while adding eight points.
Coach Matt Borchert said Kai Roberts played really well as she contributed seven points.
The Falcons drained 10 3-pointers in the first half, outscoring the Eagles 57-25.
This was Solano’s fifth game in eight days, and Borchert said they showed heart and mental toughness in today’s win.
“It was a good performance by us,” Borchert said. “The big goal was to finish the week strong.”
The Falcons next game is at Napa Valley, Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m.

Vanden falls to Clovis West
FRESNO — The Vanden High JV boys basketball team fell to Clovis West 53-34, Saturday.
Marshall Tubbs led the Vikings (2-9) with 10 points, while Phoenix Shackelford and Anthony Anchante had five points, each.
Vanden hosts Will C. Wood, Friday.

Amijo takes fifth in Mac Classic
LIVERMORE — The Armijo High wrestling team took home a fifth place finish at the Mac Classic at Granada High, Saturday.
Darius Lavon went 4-0 and was the 107 pound champion. Hayden Scibek (138) was 4th place as he went 3-2. Jorge Perez (161) went 3-1 in his second place finish, while Kris Elkin (heavyweight) took home a third place finish, as he went 4-1.
The Indians next match is a dual at Will C. Wood, Wednesday.
