FAIRFIELD — The Armijo High boys soccer team grabbed a 2-0 Monticello Empire League win over Rodriguez, Wednesday.
Both teams were scoreless through the first half until Edgar Padilla scored the first goal for the Indians (7-7-1, 4-5-1 MEL) in the 56th minute on an assist from Sebastian Boughet.
The second goal came on a penalty kick in the 78th minute from goalkeeper Hernan Perez, who contributed to the shutout, saving two shots on goal.
Armijo looks to add another league win it travels to Napa, Monday.
Fairfield 2, Benicia 2: At Fairfield, Joahue Marino’s goal in the 46th minute salvaged a tie for the Falcons (3-6-2, 3-4-2 MEL).
Marino also scored in the first half to give Fairfield a 1-0 lead before the Panthers took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Goalie Ivan Sanchez made four saves for the Falcons.
Fairfield dropped the JV game 6-0 after battling Benicia to a 0-0 tie at the half.
The Falcons play at Vanden, Monday.
Vanden 4, Vallejo 2: At Vallejo, Steward Pinienta netted a hat trick as he lifted the Vikings (12-0, 9-0 SCAC) past the Apaches.
Dominiq Laird scored the other goal in the 76th minute on a Patrick Dazo assist, while Eddie Torres assisted one of Pinienta’s goals.
The Vikings look to keep the streak alive as they host Fairfield, Monday.
Armijo JV 4, Rodriguez 0: At Rodriguez, the Indians’ Eric Solorio scored the first goal in the eighth minute, followed by back-to-back goals from Eduardo Gomez.
Playing at forward, Ricky Diaz scored in the second half off a pass from Trevor Davis. Isaias Arteaga and Julian Angel played solid defense to keep the Rodriguez Mustangs from scoring.
