Armijo baseball team drops season opener in 8 innings

PITTSBURG — David Hostler pitched seven solid innings, but the game went eight as the Armijo High baseball fell 4-3 to Pittsburg in its season opener, Saturday.

Hostler allowed six hits and two earned runs, striking out seven and walking none before leaving with the score tied at 3-3 in the seventh.

Kyle Elledge was 2 for 4 with a triple, while Jason Brasile also had two hits and played sparkling defense at shortstop. Jarod Barunda added a double, while Hayden Del Dotto and Chris Bruner also had hits for the Indians.

Armijo plays its home opener at Dave Marshall Field against Bethel, Tuesday.
