Prep track: Armijo girls get win in MEL 4-way meet

FAIRFIELD — The Armijo High girls varsity and junior varsity teams took home first place finishes in a Monticello Empire League quad meet at Brownlee Field, Wednesday.

The varsity girls finished with 71 points, while Napa finished second with 66.83 points.

Gabriella Nathan-Funk won three events for Armijo as she ran the 1,600 in 5 minutes 42.68 seconds, the 800 in 2:26.39 and the 3,200 in 17:32.38.

Tyra Holt added a win in the 400 for the Indians with a time of 1:00.26.

The girls JV team remained undefeated as Audrey Parker led the way by winning with 100 hurdles (16.51 seconds), 300 hurdles (53.88) and long jump (14 feet 7 inches), while placing second in the high jump (4 feet).

The Armijo boys placed fourth in the meet with 43 points with Napa winning with 81.33. The Indians’ JV squad finished second with 86 points.

Delton Engle-Sorrell was a multiple winner for the Indians as he won the 100 hurdles (16.51) and 300 meter hurdles. Isaiah Valentine finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 41-2 1/2.

The Rodriguez boys finished third, while the girls finished fourth.

Armijo is at Napa, Tuesday, while Rodriguez hosts Vacaville, Wednesday.
