ROCKVILLE — After 27 innings, the Solano Community College baseball team is off to a winning start in the 2013 season.
After Friday’s opener against Diablo Valley College was suspended for darkness in the 10th inning, the Falcons (2-0) and Vikings played another 10 frames Saturday with Solano finally taking a 6-4 lead in the top of the 20th.
Justin Quilatan led off the 20th with a solo home run for a 5-4 lead.
Tucker Bishop followed with a base hit before the Falcons bunted him over and Matt Mitchell singled him home with two outs.
Nick Altman came on and struck out two for the save.
Adam Coats earned the victory in that game.
In the second game of the series, the teams were limited to seven innings, again because of darkness.
The Falcons won 8-7 on a bases-loaded walk-off walk.
Giovanni Torres ripped a leadoff triple off the wall. David Fernandez walked before Aaron Brasher drew an intentional walk.
Edgar Ibarra then worked a four-pitch walk to force in Torres with the winning run.
Kyle Stafford earned the win in relief.
Solano continues the home stand Thursday when it hosts No. 1 San Mateo.
