In business for just a little more than a year, Vacaville’s Clay Oven has impressed Daily Republic readers so much they voted it the best Indian restaurant. Owner Romy Uppel offers a lunch special in addition to a full bar at the restaurant. He serves lamb and barbecue in addition to the traditional curry dishes. Uppel said he gets lots of foot traffic from neighboring lodging facilities, the factory outlets, Leisure Town and employees of Kaiser Permanente and Genentech, which are located across Interstate 80. He said he also has customers travel from Napa, Woodland and Yuba City.
