Thunder over Solano 2014

Welcome to Thunder Over Solano

Welcome to Travis Air Force Base, home of the Golden Bears and the 2014 “Thunder Over Solano” Air Expo and Open House. It is our distinct pleasure to welcome our friends and neighbors from Solano County and the entire Northern California region to a phenomenal display of air power, Golden Bear style.

As the largest base in Air Mobility Command, we are leaders in providing Global Reach for America – delivering hope, fueling the fight and saving lives anywhere in the world in a matter of hours – a capability special to our nation.

In addition to the airlift, air refueling and aeromedical evacuation provided by the active duty 60th Air Mobility Wing and the Air Force Reserve 349th Air Mobility Wing, the 621st Contingency Response Wing provides an alert force ready to deploy within 12 hours to augment a fixed base or to stand up an entire airfield to support contingencies or humanitarian operations around the world. Our three wings, together with more than 50 on-base partner organizations, work as one team to repeatedly earn our position as “America’s First Choice” for mobility operations around the globe.

Accomplishing our important mission would not be possible without the incredible support from our fellow citizens in the community. We are extremely fortunate to enjoy exceptionally strong, mutually beneficial partnerships which support our Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers and Marines today while helping us prepare for the challenges of tomorrow. For these and many other reasons, we are very pleased to open our base to you during our air expo and open house. Every day, our C-5 Galaxies and C-17 Globemaster III airlifters and our KC-10 Extender air refuelers fly over Solano County. You will have the opportunity to see these, and other aircraft, up close and personal. In addition, phenomenal aerial performers such as the United States Army Golden Knights parachute team and the world-renowned United States Air Force Thunderbirds will fill Solano’s skies.

We are excited that you have joined us for this celebration of air power. While taking in the acts and the aircraft displays, we encourage you to interact with the members of our armed forces who are part of a long and proud legacy of defending freedom. We thank you profoundly for your continued support and hope you enjoy the show during “Thunder Over Solano!”
