Mike Liu opened Hisui 2 four years ago and his emphasis on high-quality ingredients for his dishes and good customer service ensured that Daily Republic readers named his restaurant the best place to enjoy Japanese food three years in a row. “It is pretty awesome, but I am not letting my guard down. I am going to keep doing what I am doing,” Liu said of the honor. That means continuing to “use only high-quality ingredients” and local produce served in a health-conscious manner to cater to the local audience that he treasures with both dine-in and carry-out food. His menu offers a wide variety of food, from sushi and sashimi to teriyaki, tempura and ramen dishes. His sushi offerings alone total more than four dozen recipes, ranging from spider and super California to bay scallop and cherry blossom. On top of that is the all-you-can-eat sushi lunch special.
