Sound off for Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014

Last week, we asked whether Fairfield should look outside City Hall to find a city manager to succeed Sean Quinn, who is retiring.

Here are some comments from our website:

  • Fairfield should eliminate the position of city manager. Make the mayor and City Council members do their jobs: Represent the people, then manage the city accordingly.
  • I would normally say hire from within. But in this case I think it would be best to have someone with fresh ideas and less connection with present council.
  • Whats the resume? In all fairness, yes (hire outside). Who knows what they can bring to the table. Under the right supervision and care, it’s worth the risk.
