Sound off for March 23, 2014

By From page A8 | March 23, 2014

Last week, we asked what readers thought of the proposal to split California into six states.

Here are some comments from our website:

Although I like the theory of splitting California, can you imagine the logistics of it and the costs? All the state agencies to divide up, the state employees, the state buildings, etc. The list goes on. . . . Those are the kind of nightmares that trying to split the state would cause. Now maybe splitting in two wouldn’t be bad, but not six.

This is is another Republican attempt at gerrymandering to try to get more of their people elected. Nothing more. They can’t get voting restrictions passed to alienate progressive voters here like they did elsewhere so came up with this lame idea.

Let’s divide it into three states:  The Democrats go to their half, the Republicans go to their half and the tea party to their half. Let’s see who can get most of the business to follow them. Democrats, you will get the unions (no jobs).

We do not need to spilt California into six states, but I  like the idea of three states – north, central and south.
