Sound off for June 29, 2014

By From page A10 | June 29, 2014

Last week, we asked how the United States should respond to the events in Iraq.

Here are some responses from our website:

  • Wouldn’t it be nice to close the door, turn off the faucet, bring the goodwill and resources home and repair all the problems here at home? It is time America licks her wounds and begins the climb back to prosperity and peace. Maybe we could return to the business of saving the world once we get comfortably back on our collective feet.
  • We fight them there, now, or our kids and grandkids will have to clean up their messes here. Is that what you want? We must accept that the radicals won’t rest or quit until they complete their “jihad” or have killed or control all of us nonbelievers.
  • I say we make the threat of Iraq becoming the 51st state. Imagine the amount of oil we’d have, the massive infrastructure rebuilding, beach front property, etc.
  • The options presented are very limited. How much military involvement? I don’t think we should send troops back there. The first time was an epic disaster and repeating Bush’s mistake would be lunacy. Drones would help.
