Sound off for June 1, 2014

Last week, we asked whether Fairfield’s Mayor’s Commission on Crime was a good idea.

Here are some comments from our website:

  • Experience and history have proven this commission will be no more than an information collecting waste of time. We know the problems, they know the problems and we know they know the problems. What is there to talk about? We expect those we pay to enforce the law to do so. That should settle it. Let’s roll.
  • You are correct we have laws, but I think the country is turning, the old-school people believe in hard punishment (prison) for crime, the newer touchy-feely people believe in more and more chances; let’s send them to class, it’s not their fault, they come from a broken home. I think more and more judges are going with the latter.
  • No. Waste of time and money. But they don’t care. They’re used to blowing time and money.
  • If we need a commission, that is just saying our police department doesn’t have a clue as to what is going on.
