Last week, we asked whether readers agreed with the Fairfield City Council agreement to a Project Labor Agreement for the proposed train station.
Here are some comments from our website:
- The train station and housing are a bad idea, hurts our water table and lacks enforceability. The PLA is bad business, did I miss anything?
- The council meeting when the vote was taken was a farce, just grand theater to make the public feel good. Two of the council members even went so far as to berate and castigate opponents to the PLA while ignoring the clapping and cheers (and shouted interruptions to a speaker) from the union phalanx. Shabby treatment from our elected representatives (do they really represent us?).
- We should do other things to support unions so tactics like PLAs are unnecessary. But we aren’t doing those things, so we can’t blame unions for doing what they can for themselves, their members and all workers.
- As I recall, the Daily Republic asked the question, “Do you think the Fairfield Train station is a good idea?” Seems to me all the people who answered said, “NO” . . . see how well the city council listens to the people!
