Kick out the jams, America
In last October’s “How to sink the ship of state” column, we discussed Republican obstructionism in Congress. Well, the results are in, and this Congress passed only 90 bills last year, a modern-era low. Of the 90, three were to reappoint regents to the Smithsonian Institution, 16 were to name federal buildings in honor of someone and many of the rest were simple “housekeeping” bills to extend funding on programs already in existence.
Over the last year, virtually every attempt to ease the effects of this recession — every attempt to make life easier for the 99 percent of us Americans on the bottom — has been blocked by congressional Republicans responding to their prime directive: Make President Barack Obama look bad in order to prevent his re-election.
Last week’s bipartisan congressional compromise, extending the payroll tax cuts, in effect, giving a 2 percent raise to 160 million American workers, might be seen as a faint glimmer of hope that partisan politics have finally given way to pragmatism in Washington. Since this is an election year, maybe both parties in Congress will actually get along, long enough to fool us into re-electing them, and maybe, just maybe, long-delayed help will come for an America suffering the worst economic setback since the 1930s.
Americans are universally fed up with the childish behavior that has stalled any and every attempt to move our economy forward. A CBS News/New York Times poll, and a Gallup poll, both taken earlier this month, showed a mere 10 percent approval rating for Congress. This is the lowest approval rating in Gallup’s history — going back to 1974. The previous historic low was 11 percent, two months ago.
The obvious question is, “How could anyone approve of this behavior?”
The Republicans have used their “do-nothing” game plan before. In 1948, Republican majorities in both the House and Senate tried to get rid of Democratic President Harry Truman by making him look like an ineffective leader. Truman, who became president when Franklin Roosevelt died, labeled this 8oth Congress the “do-nothing Congress.” In actuality, they passed far more significant legislation than today’s 112th Congress.
In a speech at the Democratic convention in July 1948, Truman highlighted the proposals stated in the Republican convention’s platform just a couple of weeks earlier: “Now listen! This is equally bad, and as cynical. The Republican platform comes out for slum clearance and low-rental housing. I have been trying to get them to pass that housing bill ever since they met the first time, and it is still resting in the Rules Committee, that bill. The Republican platform favors educational opportunity and promotion of education. I have been trying to get Congress to do something about that ever since they came there, and that bill is at rest in the House of Representatives. The Republican platform is for extending and increasing Social Security benefits. Think of that! Increasing Social Security benefits! Yet when they had the opportunity, they took 750,000 off the Social Security rolls! I wonder if they think they can fool the people of the United States with such poppycock as that!”
After the convention, Truman called Congress back into session hoping the Republicans would at least act on their own platform proposals. Congress again did nothing and adjourned for the year on Aug. 7th. Truman took his outrage, and his plain-talking truth, directly to the people. That November, American voters, disgusted with Republican obstructionism, kicked out the jams. Truman was elected president and the Democrats won huge majorities in both the House and Senate of the new, 81st Congress.
It’s time again, America: Kick out the jams.

What a load of baloney! Why did Mikey not mention the Chief Obstructionist Harry Reid, DEMOCRAT, Nevada, who refuses to allow even a discussion of a budget in the Senate. More than 1,000 days of DEMOCRAT tyranny from the White House and the Senate have passed without a real budget emerging from the DEMOCRATS. Spin, spin, spin, Mikey. You just can’t dodge this one.
Good Point Vote in Independant Candidates for Congress and Senate and Ron Paul
Your support for Ron Paul is admirable but about as effective as your miserable book mess, not really good for anything.
Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained
@ CD Spoil Sport
Well half the article was a trip down memory lane, when Kirchubel’s vile acts of evil were something his mother had to change for him.Again with the GOP..those recalcitrant obstructionist do nothings that just want to unseat Obama..maybe just take away his credit card as you would with a child whose spending has gone crazy out of control.I’ll remind Mr. K that 2010 saw the most resounding rebuke of the Democratic party in recent history,I’ll also remind Mr.K that with the exception of the dis-barred for life and impeached Bil Clinton no Democrat since Roosevelt has ever been re-elected.
Life is a process of change
Kind of another ” Occupy Daily Republic” thing?
I am going to stand my ground.
Mike, as usual, your interpretation of the facts leaves much to be desired. Voters are displeased with Congress. That is a fact. But it’s both parties, not just Republicans.
I still am interested in who you’re going to vote for now that Obama is embracing the Superpacs. I wouldn’t think you would be able to sleep at night if you voted for Obama.
http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/
No first we try to get the nomination for Ron Paul.
http://www.ronpaul2012.com/
And Gary Johnson. Join us after the Primary. He should be Mike’s candidate of choice now as well, since he fits his beliefs more than Obama.
http://www.garyjohnson2012.com/
Mr P Was 911 an inside job?
Not a chance. Mike needs to read The Terriorist Next Door.
I don’t believe Mike Kirchubel has ever mentioned 911, so don’t imply he was asking.
All that is needed for the forces of evil to triumph is for enough good men to do nothing.
STR…Like Congress?…
I have an idea for a new game we all have to use at least one Platitude in our replies.
Mother knows best
Mr. P, Didn’t you read last week’s article?
Regarding?
I had it laminated
I read it in a book somewhere
@ Mr. P Wouldn’t you like to know
More good information Mike. This obstructionist behavior is finally starting to hit home and folks are tired. I don’t think the majority of Americans are feeling it from the GOP. Then look at Santorum’s little upswing giving the ultra Conservatives hope. That is another bad sign for the Republican Party.
Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise
No good information Mike and if CD would care to note there are 54 Rep primaries and caucauses that award delegates..we’ve only been thru 5..so way to go..You don’t see Harry Reid as obstructionist?,You don’t see Nancy Pelosi as some harradan outa control?..
You can count on me
Gary, I see Democratic opposition to Republicans as self-defense. I beieve the rest of the country is finally beginning to see that as well. Like Mr. Practical says and rightly so, there are problems on both sides of the aisle. I think the GOP howver, has pushed too hard and wil ultimately pay for their efforts.
The two major parties Democrat and Republican are both controlled by the International Bankers. Only Ron Paul is not (I hope).
Another candidate to check out Bill Still http://still2012.com/
TEA PARTY PEOPLE ALERT MILITARY ALERT Check this out
http://ronpaulflix.com/2012/01/ron-pauls-salute-to-veterans-rally-highlights-and-interviews-with-veterans/
Thanks, C.D. The right-wing apologists and misled are out in force today. I’m sure they have some more Fox quotes to throw our way.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We go through the same sham cycle of Dem vs Rep over and over. Both sides are controlled by the Financial Elite as we move thowards the One World Order and international taxes.
Research the BIS Bank of International Settlements and the membership of every country’s Central Bank.
So by your own admission and this post are we to presume the obvious..you’re certifiable.?..and DR..why not rename the site “SAVE THE REPUBLIC”?
What difference does it make.
I’m just a lovable ball of fluff
Mike, you’re really no different than the extremists that you criticize. You’re just on the opposite side of the political fence. Like extreme hot and cold. Pick your poison. Either will burn you.
Obama embraces Superpacs. How are you going to vote? Enquiring minds want to know. Will you support a candidate who is part of the problem? Or will you embrace hypocrisy?
Mr. P, didn’t you read last week’s column? It’s online right below.
I did read it, but can’t determine if you’re ok with Obama taking Super Pac money? I can’t imagine how you could be.
So, are you going to vote for Obama with that info?
Mike, you’re really no different than the extremists that you criticize. You’re just on the opposite side of the political fence. Like extreme hot and cold. Pick your poison. Either will burn you.
Obama embraces Superpacs. How are you going to vote? Enquiring minds want to know. Will you support a candidate who is part of the problem? Will you embrace hypocrisy?
My guess is A and B
@ Mr P That’s the way to play the game.
I am really having trouble getting my rhythm going on this game. You guys are definitely going to win this one.
Mr. P is just trying to deflect attention away from Ron Paul. I do not believe that he really supports Gary Johnson.
Not sure why you would believe that. I’ve been touting Johnson since before the nomination process. He’s the first politician that I agree with on nearly every issue. And he has a proven track record of execution.
I have no problem with Paul. He would be my second choice. I just don’t believe he can win the nomination.
StR, Mr. Practical is way ahead of the game, where did you come from? If I were to pick one or the other, Johnson would be a slam dunk. Neither have a chance but johnson is absolutely the better of the two.
CD: “self defense” Good Grief! You have joined the Prevaricating Paraphraser in the cuckoo land of Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four Newspeak. And you dodged the central issue: Harry Reid’s domination of the Senate and refusal to advance anything submitted by the other side.
sapsguy, I din’t dodge Reid, I usually avoid responding to any of your comments.
Gotcha.
@sapsguy You missed the mark. Brevity is the soul of wit.
You have to share your toys
Thrust and paree…it’ll all come out in the wash..If Obama himself says you’re not better off than 4 yrs ago..it’s one time I’m willing to take him at his word.
But we don’t want to air our dirty laundry
The hens are running from the FOX…9/10 left wing coverage and 1 little network causes you so much grief…heaven forbid another view presented
And the sky is falling.
These historical comparisons are tough. There are a lot of parallels between 2012 and 1948, but there are so many differences too, especially in how we communicate, how we are influenced, and the mountains of money spent to affect both. I expect the president will be reelected and there will be some modest gains for the Democrats in congress. I’m afraid the jams, whatever the cause, will still be there when the dust clears. China is not so jammed.
The FEDERAL RESERVE and the way money is controlled through out the world by the International Bankers is the problem. War for Profit and consolidating international control.
I just heard that pallets of 100.00bills..hundreds of millions of dollars are just gone from deliveries made to Iraq during the course of this war…I suppose you’re gonna blame Bush for that?….ah er never mind I think that WAS Bush..but Obama would have dropped the ball too if we had any money left..
Money makes the world go round.
Well at least it does for the “fair share” Obamas..Mr Oblunder who says people have got to cut back, spend less, take fewer vacations..The “first” family has taken 17 vacations in 3 yrs..let that sink in for the people on this site that want 4 more years of this circus…And everytime we move those privilaged bodies around it costs the taxpayers a minimum of 4 million dollars…Fair share,Super Pacs, the rich need to be taxed more..I guess so just to pay for their hotel bills.
Oh the trouble I’ve seen
You can trust me on this one
But the proof is in the pudding
This column is funny. It’s 2012, not 1948. And if Mike would remember his Civics class he would have to admit there are two houses in Congress. Unlike 1948, the Democrats control the Senate and the Presidency. That’s two of three. Maybe the misguided policies of both parties is the cause for Congress low ratings and the President’s impotence.
Things are never as black and white as Mr Kirchubel makes them out to be. But it is amusing reading over toast and coffee.
These days you can’t “control” the Senate with less than 60 votes. Given that the U.S. Senate is the least democratically elected legislative house in the country (it would be unconstitutional if it weren’t established in the Constitution itself), the cloture rule, requring 60 votes to close off debate to have a vote on the question, bugs me. It’s a big reason we’ve had impasse from even before the 2010 election. I don’t think the House has a similar rule.
I read somewhere that if you take the 41 Senators from the least popluated states, they represent only 11% of the nation’s population. It’s never that bad, but with the cloture rule, Senators representing well below 50% of the population can block legislation.
Look at it this way… The House represents the nation’s population. The Sentate represents the interest of the States. That’s good balance.
That was the compromise reached in 1787. Before that, it was all based on states. It wasn’t working. A lot of change has occurred since then, and I doubt is the Senate would be set up the same way today.
Given the history, it wasn’t possible to go all the way to proportional representation, so we ended up with the Senate with two seats from each state and the electoral college. The Senate representation was so important to the small states that they put it out of reach of amendment (check it out). But it’s not exactly representing states. Senators from one state don’t have to vote as a bloc, for example.
So we have what we have. The cloture rule, however, is not in the Constitution. That’s something that could change.
I never heard 2 votes called a “bloc” before.
@rlw895 Do I know you? Do you go to Mr Heal’s Tax Payer’s Meetings? If not “Never Mind”
Exactly how hot has it been out there?…States are just geography..We only need a House/that has to be accountable to the voters every two years..A Senator that’s gets elected for 6 years is a pork barreled, narcissistic, nightmare of a human being in 3.
The Founders had a different idea. I imagine they were following the precedent of the English system (and some state legislatures). The Senate is supposed to be more staid and stable, more involved in foreign affairs, and to act more as advisor to the president.
Madison wanted the Senate to be all that and also elected proportionally like the House, but he lost that argument. If had made a deal earlier, he might have gotten a better compromise.
The idea of states having representation as states was too strongly engrained in 1787 to go all the way the other direction, and it got down to either taking the small state deal or there would be no Constitution.
Too hot to handle
I always thought abolishing the Senate could only help expediate and simplify the legislative process in this country. That said,in a Republic the minority is not relegated to second class status and it’s wishes are considered on par with the majority..that’s how this country was founded. The Senate is an outmoded toga wearing dinosuar that needs to be ended forever.
Too many cooks spoil the broth and they pull the wool over our eyes.
This is a good little book. The Ruling Class — Inside the Imperial Congress (Heritage Foundation) by Eric Felton
used on Amazon for $2.50
1. Congress Persons don’t even read the bills or have time allowed to read them. Begging the question Who is really writing the Bills.
2. Other language that does not even pertain to the legislation in question is snuck in and added.
3. When bills/legislation is reconciled between the House and Senate versions the legislation can basically be rewritten and not debated then passed.
And in gerneral regarding the law making process. Less is more
Legislative aides, attorneys, lobbyists, and Oprah Winfrey..an arcane process to be sure… write most of the bills..the rest I would have thought would be common knowledge..
Can you back up that statement
Or a colon
But we shouldn’t cry over spilt milk.
I am not gettting these to post where I want them to go.
Perhaps the toilet is occupied..if you’re on a plane ..you have to wait till the little slide bar says “VACANT”
I will now call you a name. Being a Lady (sort of) I will allow you to pick.
A. Filmy Buzzard
or
B. Slimy Bustard
So are you going to fight back? Or Are you going to be a French cheese eating surrender monkey?
Now I’m feeling guilty. Don’t worry, be Happy?
Son, it’s better to soar with the Eagles than walk with the Turkeys” or Filmy Buzzards or Slimy Bustards (For those of you in Rio Linda a bustard is a type of bird)
I believe you have all missed something. Obama will get re-elected …and more democrats for the house….because WOMEN will give them the margin needed.
Republicans have gone too far by interfering with woman’s health issues. Republicans have really blown it.
Gas prices keep going up those women are going to have to car pool to the polls.
Yes They will really have to haul but !
In case you missed it Gallup had Obama @ a 43% approval rate Nov 11….Today that poll has him@44%..Gas prices up 91% since Boyblunder lucked into office(Why isn’t Pelosi moaning like she did with Bush when it was 1.84/gal..Democrats?Such transparent phonies)..Unemployment above this joke’s own set goals for 36 straight months..It’s actuall 15.1%..I don’t think birth control pills which are free @ any Planned Parent Hood are going to make that much of difference.
Actually, Gary, your own Fox News poll has Obama at over 50% approval. It’s interactive on their site so you can change it with your vote if you like.
And I’m sure you’ve voted thousands of times..I used today Gallups Polls and those figures are no doubt more accurate..And BTW wouldn’t that 50% approval rating for Obama just be another “FOXISM”..You know very well if the interactive showed a lower number you’d rant and rave how it was skewed by Foxisms..All see thru you I’m sure.
@ cliff But it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. So Democratic ladies please register as a Rep and VOTE FOR RON PAUL. Due to Prop 14 open primaries you can still vote for a Democrat candidate for offices other than president if you want to.
Gary..I think you’re mistaken. There has been an attack by Republicans (and the Religious right) on woman’s rights as never before. Small example…Republican controlled State of Virginia…enacting legislature that dictates an invasive probing of a womans body if she asks her doctor for an abortion. Of course birth control pills are available. It’s been sed that 99% of woman use them. But this new “ole boys” attack on woman’s rights will back-fire. As far as your “%s”….congress approval lowest of the low…and there’s obvious reasons for that…as you must admit. Democrats will have a good November.
I’m pro-life..against abortion and would do anything legally to prevent a woman from getting one..This invasive procedure would serve perhaps to show the woman what it is she’s actually going to terminate with extreme prejudice.I have issues with rape, incest, mother’s health and they are not resolved as yet.I’m human too..and they ending of any human life causes me concern.Congress has low ratings no doubt..both GOP and DEMS..but when asked who would better handle the economy GOP usually edges out..As for Democrats having a good November..I’ll wait till November and see.
I replied to you..but I’m in moderation..for absolutely no good reason save to give reasons why abortion would be tolerated by my pro-life views evidently the R word and the I word are red flags..As for Congress both GOP and DEMS get low ratings but GOP edges out when asked who better to run the economy..as for Dems doing better in November..I’ll wait for November and see.
You seem to conveniently forget that the national debt, except for the current Obama contribution and $1 trillion from Clinton, is from Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II administrations. Reagan tripled it – and that was with a Republican congress. Republicans TALK about being fiscally conservative and the suckers believe it.
I am really serious about this. If we do not elect Ron Paul it is Game Over. http://www.infowars. com
It’s not game over until we embalm Ron Paul..and then it’s his game that’s over..This Republic will outlast at least you..
People WAKE UP they are all in this together, no real difference between them wether they be Dem or Republican.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/reliable-source/post/president-obama-attends-elite-alfalfa-club-dinner/2012/01/28/gIQATk33YQ_blog.html
I don’t forget anything we’re Elephants remember,I’m not naïve enough to think that 15,000,000,000,000 plus debt was just caused by Dems…I know when I’m spinned Kirchey..like saying Clinton had a budget surplus when he left office..how you can have a surplus w/ a 17Billion deficit is beyond my math skills…I just take the number Obama started with and what he added to it..let the Trillions fall where they may.
This shouldn’t be too difficult for your large brain to absorb: the federal fiscal year is from october 1st to september 30th. Clinton’s last budget was up to oct, 2001. By the way, he had a huge deficit and recession handed to him by bush I, just like obama had with bush II.
Yes I’m quite aware of the fiscal, year and that as Hillary said during the 2008 campaign it took a Clinton to clean up after Bush 1 and I’m here to clean up after Bush II…Very impressive..Almost as impressive as the 15,000,000,000,000 closing on 16,000,000,000,000 that’s every penny of our annual fiscal or calendar GDP…doesn’t matter much how it got here..it’s here and my large brain definately comprehends that and only wishes it could communicate same to your stegalosaurus small brain
http://www.factcheck.org/2008/02/the-budget-and-deficit-under-clinton/
Play fair or go home
Hey, SavetheRepublic….like your “womans perogative”humor…and do enjoy watching and listening to the “bluntness” of Ron Paul…but ….not enuff to switch.
So Gary, You don’t like Mike Kirchubel’s book Vile Acts of Evil correct?
My birds and dogs adore it
I have 3 dogs Chomp and Chewy the two Pitbulls and Sid Vicious the Doberman.
We have a couple that live nearby that we refer to as Sid & Nancy. Long story.
@ Mr P I am really being mean today, I need to chill out. Forgive me?
You have a Dobermann,does the ASCPA know?..You spelled it wrong..it’s a man’s name like Porsche..2n’s
Make that ASPCA
Make mine a double. Fast cars Fast women Fast talk
But here is my cunning plan. You buy 200 to 300 copies of Vile Acts of Evil, get the necessary permits, throw a party and have a giant book burning. Fun! Fun! Fun! That’ll show Mike a thing or two. You Like?
I have no intention of quadrupiling his sales…I doubt that many were even printed anyway.
Yes I was just trying to boost the Amazon sales figures. The book is actually good, it would be a shame to waste it.
I’ll take my chances
@Gary Do the 1% drink beer, if so what type. I got kind of lit last night on Guinness Black Lager. It is good.
So maybe investing in Guinness during this economic downturn would be a good idea.
Time to drown your sorrows
We need to double our efforts
Dave, Dave’s not here man (Cheech and Chong)
Gary, do you actually have birds? I have 3 parrots (African Grey and 2 Amazons) and position Mike’s columns in the appropriate spot on their cage bottoms.
So that’s what all that white stuff is.
Or could be the blank pages of your writer’s block
Don’t you have some OIDs to check out factoids, rheumatoids, asteroids, hemorrhoids?
See this is funny because if Mr. P is who I think he is he deals with websites and Object Identifiers on a regular basis?
I think I am learning to be really snarky like Gary. You can take a joke right.? I really do not care to start a major fued with you.
Re 1% drink beer…Yes we do Chimay Blue
No but I have tenants who have birds…One especially large Green Parrot huge thing called Crackers..Thanks for reminding me gonna raise their rents next term..unless they can teach the thing to say. Awwwwwwck..Dems are done, Dems are done..No I have Dobermanns..and carpenter ants..
Birds of a feather stick together
Especially if you don’t clean the cage
Re: Guiness investing..Think it may be a private company..Here’s some trivia..on the Sargeant Pepper Album/Beatles..Forget the title of song..but Lennon sings “He blew his mind out in a car ,he didn’t notice that the lights had changed”………..That’s about his friend Tara Brown(male).who died in his Lotus..and Tara was a Guiness heir…bottoms up!
Well I would never drink and drive. My husband says the reason he married me is that I am really a cheap date. Two of anything and I am snockered.
Good for you Gold Star. Don’t know if Tara was drinking that day..my guess is Luci in the Sky with Diamonds.
Just say no to drugs. That bears repeating. Just say no to drugs.
A polite person would say “No thank you”
So you say
Wow, what a beautiful day.
Yes But are we having fun yet? Will I see you at the Tea Party meeting in Vacaville tonight? I will protect you. You might actually be interested in this speaker. Our mutual acquaintance said you commented on your ability to upset the apple cart. I tend to do this also, so much so that I attended Occupy Vacaville and the Tea Party meeting on the same day, and upset both camps. Oh well I’ll live to fight another day.
Keep Jones. http://www.craigsteiner.US/articles/16. Myth of the Clinton Budget surplus…for every site you give there’s one to dispute it…but to simplify you CAN’T have a surplus when the overall debt is increasing..even the interest on the debt will negate any surplus..it’s all accounting gimmickery..I tell people to just Google The Myth of the Clinton Budget surplus…he had some good luck though..Big tax increases, drastic cuts in the military, the dot com/silicon valley, boom with the increased tax revenues it brought.no wars..yeah withouit the debt being added to..he could have easily had a surplus..but it was just on paper..I could own a million shares of XYZ worth a. Billion..until I sell it it ain’t worth squat..and if XYZ runs into trouble…..???
Like you once said…Fact Check…
And you are wrong on the Obama’s 17 vacations…
It was only 16…
If I’ve checked it once I’ve checked it twice
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
you are spinning like a whirling dervish. Why not admit that the last president to balance the budget was clinton. The last president to pay off the debt was also a man of and for the people.
Because admitting would be lying..Clinton paid off the debt..with what? Domino Pizza coupons..The only thing the man from hope balanced was keeping Monica away Hillary..Clinton,dis-barred for life,Impeached as president,..oh yeah we’ll want to hold him up as one of America’s best.
or your barn door is open
@ Rick Wood…had a friend Rick Wood great lawyer left us way too soon.Just this Bi-Cameral thing is a drag..if we’re in such a fast paced tech..let’s streamline the Legislative branch and see how much we can get done..House members can represent states as a whole too
Well, we’re stuck with it as it is. Check out Article V of the Constitution.
Well, can’t argue with that
The whole kit and kaboodle
Are you talking to yourself?..Rhetorical..I’m not surprised..
@ Rick woods stuck with the Senate?..good word..they won’t eliminate their own jobs..especially such privilaged ones
They can’t eliminate their jobs if they wanted to. The Founders put it out of reach in Article V.
Wouldn’t be the first time the Constitution was ignored

I would highly reccommend that everyone read Barry and the Boys by Hopsicker. It answers a lot if questions.
And Vile Acts of Evil by Mike Kirchubel
What are you his press agent?

Book Mind Over Splatter: If They Mind It Matters ! by Perry M. Index
Book How to tame the wild jackals by X. E. Fox
The hundred plus people who make the air force one jackets and whose jobs were saved by FOX NEWS exposing DOD plans to give their contract to prison inmates..took a picture holding up a big sign THANK YOU FOX NEWS!!…Hows that for a FOXISM…long live the conservative voice!!
Talk about Dervish Spin…Look to last nights CNN GOP Debates..Talk about crafting questions so as not to embarrass Obama…Not one question on the fast and furious gun scandal..duh??..It’s an Arizona primary..incredible…Not one question about gas prices??????…..Not one question about Obama dis-arming our nuclear arsenal????..Only one question on Iran..at the end…I would stick my head in the sand before ever admitting to being a Democrat…just one embarrassment after another…another loss for lame liberalism..and the American people.
Good morning Gary! With all due respect, I would say the GOP is the embarrassment right now. The Conservative voice is getting hoarse as the candidates continue a substance-less argument that garners zero enthusiasm. To be honest, I am embarrassed watching the dignity of men tossed aside only made to make them look childish and ignorant. Sucks to be a Republican right now but it might get worse if they don’t endorse anybody soon. Seriously, in support of my good friend Mr. Practical, the Gary Johnson message is strong, clear, concise, and well laid out, why isn’t anybody touting this man’s ideals? If folks aren’t inclined to vote for the president, Johnson should definitely be the guy. Ron Paul and the prevailing cast are also-rans. Now you are faced with Romney as the only clear choice for nomination. Good luck with that.
I’m guessing it’s because none of those questions carry any weight outside of your right-wing bubble. People who are not misled by the corporate media know that fast and furious is an A.T.F. boondoggle, just like the previous incarnations under George II. Contrary to Fox News pundants, the president does not control the price of crude oil in the Middle East and everyone else in the world, except for you and your Friends at Fox, thinks that reducing our nuclear stockpile by a thousand or so would be a good thing. And other than you and John McCain, most people in the U.S. are tired of throwing away our good money on overseas adventures that do nothing but irritate the arabs, kill our kids, and line the pockets of the rich. Any other Foxisms I can help you with?
Foxisms..did it escape you that it was a CNN moderated debate?..ATF boondoggle..go tell that to the murdered Border Agents Family..Bush’s program to my knowledge didn’t kill anyone and was by all accounts successful..perhaps Obama should have consulted him..like he took a page from Bush’s book on the Afghan surge..you’re so so mixed up..As for gas prices being beyond the great one’s control..he’ll probably again prove you as out of touch when he talks on the subject in a few hours..mid east oil?..again you’re mis-informed the USA has the highest reserves of coal, oil and natural gas in the world..what’s jacking prices is that Obama has issued the last number of off shore permits in 25 yrs..drilling on Fed land is down 40%..lower than your self esteem..I don’t need help with FOXISMS do you need help tieing your shoes?
Correction make that LEAST number of off shore oil permits in 25 yrs by Oboy..also we’re shipping way too much of our oil and refined gas overseas..When Obama said he wanted the USA to be Brazil’s best customer for their oil..that didn’t help either..So you think questions on gas prices is a right wing bubble issue?..What bubble did you pop out of..You think reducing our nuclear arsenal to levels of 1950 is a good thing huh?…We are the only nuclear power that doesn’t update or conduct routine testing of our Nukes..we reduce to whatever number..good chance 1/2 won’t even go BOOOM!!!….So you don’t like those oversea wars because it kills our kids(Volunteer Army Sarge..not every one is as unpatriotic as you)line the pockets of the rich?..You’ll never tire of that one..Can’t help it if you’re not rich..T-shirts aren’t exactly a dress for success strategy perhaps you need a style designer..and last but not least..you worry about irritating the Arabs?..Perhaps you could go over and hold their hands..and make nice nice
Typical right-wing ranting without substance. Go tell the border guard’s family – nice. Totally without substance, but nice sidestep – instead of replying to my comment you simply make me look like I don’t care about the loss of a life. Two, about those offshore drilling permits, they are coming fast and furious now that the industry has a way of capping the runaway wells a mile underwater. Did you already forget about the Obama oil spill in the Gulf? “Needless to say, it would have been irrational and irresponsible to resume deepwater drilling before viable containment systems were available,” Bromwich (head oil industry regulator) said. Needless to say, indeed. And the volunteer army – just because they volunteer is no reason to throw their lives away – is it? I mean, from a right-wing perspective. By the way – I can’t recall you ever talking about your military experience. Three, how many nuclear weapons do we have? You can Google it if you don’t know. And how many do we need – in your opinion? – I mean barring any outer space alien invasions, of course.
.It’s always Right Wing Rant when you don’t have a clue as to how to counter the argument. You also have a short memory since we’ve had extensive talks about my military service.I have none and I apologize to the service for yours.Mr Went in w/no stripes and came out with three..Well Sarge about those permits..We have thousands of producing wells around the globe that operate 24/7 with no incident..The Gulf spill was an anomaly…and I feel used as an excuse for the hold up in permits..you didn’t address the steep drop in drilling on federal lands,or our shipping our fuels in increasing quantities over seas..all part of Obamas failed utopian green energy plan..Fast and Furious was just horribly handled..they lost the guns..get that Sarge?..The lost the GUNS!!..no way to track them and hundreds of people died..and all you can say is Bush??..You don’t care about the lives lost..you care more about how bad Obama looks..Young men die in war..Not one of them I’ll wager or their families would appreciate your saying..they “threw their lives away”..As for the nukes..I’ve said my peace..anyone who would leave this to a person like Obama..needs a reality check and that’s all Private Kirchubel.
I actually didn’t say they threw their lives away. I asked you if it was worth it to you for them to throw their lives away – you and McCain are the ones talking about sending U.S. troops into Syria and Iran. And I do know it was guns they lost and you know that I thought that was a stupid idea. As for shipping gas overseas, thank you for reading my January 30th column where I talked about it. As for the nuks, I guess you Googled it and all you can come back with is your little right-wing rant.
You wrote..”Just because they volunteer is no reason to throw their lives away”..You don’t have the guts to say that to a military family and I wish someone in that class on this site would call you on it.
That’s what you’re hanging your hat on? I suggest you ask any military family if they want their loved ones sent off to Syria or Iran in another brilliant tactical boondoggle. you don’t have the guts to do that do you? See, I can play your silly game too. The reason I don’t is that, on the west coast anyway, we don’t usually resort to name-calling or ranting or non sequiturs or attacking straw men until we have run out of intelligent things to say to help prove our point. I guess on the east coast, things are reversed.
“pundant” [sic]?
Mikey: are any of the “fox news pundants [sic] related to the “demure [a la Jack Batson] jackels” [sic, a la you]? Or maybe it is a runaway paraphrase.
Enquiring minds want to know
Democrats are a gullible bunch and besides being babysitted by Government they obviously love being lied to..Take Obama’s hand puppet Warren “class warfare” Buffet..who wants he and all rich people to pay more taxes..He pays himself only 100,000.00/yr to AVOID TAXES..His secretary is trotted out like a brood mare to show the inequality of it all while making more in salary than any member of Congress and a lot of professionals like lawyers, doctors etc..Now hear this deaf Democrats ..Buffet has unpaid taxes in the millions going back to 2002..Deaf,Dumb,Democrats..just an embarrassment to themselves..And Warren..just Write a check and shut up!
Moderated twice in a row, gotta be a record! Let’s see if it runs three time?!
Lousy to be a Republican right now but it might get worse if they don’t endorse anybody soon.
If I was the last Republican standing I wouldn’t think it was lousy as you put it to be one..You forget the devisive blood letting in the Democratic 2008 campaign..GOP as well..but the Dems were really brutal.. Hillary crying Bill playing the race card, short memory huh?…It’s a primary man..GOP had what? a dozen out the gate..now down to 4..It’s a vetting process..easy to armchair quarterback when your side won’t be having a primary..but rather than worry about GOP embarassment I’d be more concerned if I was A Democrat about why an incumbent is polling so anemically..I’d worry about a 9% unemployment rate cause that’s what it is best case scenario.the 8.3 is a sham.Hopefully GOP will successfully illustrate that..I’d worry about gas prices,This ain’t a 2008 Hope and Change Obama..he’s got a record now..and baby it ain’t pretty
If you can’t think of anything nice to say, don’t say anything
Hello Gary, my comment is coming. The moderation monster is set to the highest sensitivity…
OKAY! Moderated three times in a row? That is truly awesome!
I think our very names set them off..I was out of line in a back and forth with Keep Jones AKA salty old clam…and I regret that..I promised to re-habilitate and probably could have been less harsh..even on my last post about the CNN debates..but who can deny media bias in favor of liberals after listening to those questions from CNN’s John King..90% of all media is the USA is slanted liberal that’s a fact..FOX is one of the few that take a fair and balanced approach and the main stream wants to silence that one voice..FOX has plenty of liberals on the air..Bob Beckel,Juan Williams,Joe Trippy,Kirsten Powers,Geraldo Rivera,Paul Begala, and a host of others..I’ve never seen a segment on FOX that didn’t give both sides a shot and when only one side was presented the piece always ends with “We report you decide”..Kirchubel and all who diss FOX are just horribly uninformed.
Gary, Fox viewers are consistantly rated as the most mis-informed viewers of any network. Poll after poll. See my comment above for an example or two. I’m not dissing Fox, I’m simply reporting, you decide.
I’ve decided you’re going all over your shoes.
Just plain old baloney, Mikey. The polls you cited in another of your baloney bombs are self-serving push polls with a limited, statistically insignificant universe, conducted by groups that even NPR call left wing. Your misdirection is a typical agitprop scheme of the intellectually deficient left. You are not “simply reporting,” you are simply warping reality.
Mike–You’ve been outed–again! Man, when are you gonna get it? It’s not too late to come over from the dark side, but you’d better hurry.
The polls you are refering to show that the comedy shows, the dily show and the colbert report do as good a job of informing rheir viewers as fox. Howeve, i said they were misinformed. There’s a difference.
Actually, i was wrong. I want to catch this before you do. In the report you are citing, The Daily show and the Colbert Report do a better job than fox of informing their viewers.
Kirchey couldn’t be fair and balanced if he was blond, blue eyed, and walking a tight rope.
Kirchey?..Outed?…Well that would be dead easy..he’s the most transparent Democrat I know of..
Kirchubel..I only read your columns in as much as to repy to them..missed the one on gas..try Mylanta and watch your diet…I googled Nuks?..What are you one of the three Stooges?..Troops in Syria?..no but Obama will try and do something to look presidential..Egypt,Libya, are looking real good huh?..Iran?I support military action by Israel either unilaterally or with the help of that country that is supposed to be their Ally..This will happen as early as Spring..Iran must not be allowed a Nuke..You kidding me?..No one in that area including Saudis,Jordan,Iraq etc wants that..How bout Iraq BTW..we left and did anyone even doubt the consequences today 14 explosions in Baghdad 50 dead 200 wounded…Thabk God we have a competent person in the White House.:(
What was the result you were looking for in Iraq and how would you have achieved that?
I would have kept a substantial force in country, establish permanent bases pumped out their oil 24/7 and ship it to the US..till their wells bleed bilge water to pay for it all..I’d rid the Iraq government of corruption(we could use the practice)..I’d have rolling Courts Martials for their reclacitrant troops and exact a price of 100 heads for every American soldier killed in a cowardly fashion ,road side bombs etc..It’s all they understand.
Maybe we should not take what is not ours by force
Wouldn’t have this country if we listened to you
Kirchey..You said it..it’s you hat…Me ask a military family to send loved ones to Syria?..Why.?.let em kill each ..Iran Absolutely..but I’m glad I don’t have to..but when a volunteer soldier is ordered he obeys..and that’s what you BETTER hang your hat on..East Coast West Coast..what’s that?..You saying your arguments have a geographical basis?..Can you be more lame?
No, I’m saying that my arguments have a basis in reality. And thank you for proving my point.
Why is it that when people paint themselves in to corner they always say “thank you for making my point”?…People other than me have said that your ramblings are everything from “baloney”..to not having a basis in reality…I’ll add my voice to theirs.
Sorry about the delay getting back – I was writing next Manday’s article about Media Matters. Thanks for the idea. Anyway, if you find people are telling you, “thanks for making my point,” maybe you should try to understand what it is they are talking about and what you said in response.
Rather than trying to rethink every thought I’ve had or words written I’ll just be satisfied in the belief that I could not have possibly made any of your points less valid than you did when you originally attempted to make them.
fair enough.
Telling that Obama’s healthcare law which was promoted so enthusiastically by Unions and companies friendly to the Chump from Chicago are now running away from it now by the thousands..I would too but I can’t get an exemption..I would also look at Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco and see what benefits are coming her way..you may surprised..or not..seems like the parts of the bill that she did read before she said to pass it without reading it..then we’ll see whats in it..she really liked.
Sweet Home Chicago

Thanks for that. I may have to use your link for a reference for next monday’s column.
Here’s how I was misinformed by FOX this morning…Obama apologizes to Afghan president for Koran burning..Afghan soldiers, clothed, fed, and armed by the USA murdered two of our soldiers for the books burned..Obama..bows again?..and our boys are dead..Afghans don’t know the concept of measured response..Impeach Obama NOW!!!
Kircheyboy..here’s why our troops are “throwing away their lives “(your quote) for you and me and this country in Afghanistan. 1. To prevent Taliban from regaining the country and using as a base for attacks here at home.2.To prevent those same elements from getting their hands on Pakistani nukes…You like so many Democrats are one dimensional creatures..long on observation..pathetically short on perception..
a Kircheyism..He says pres has no control over gas/energy prices..here’s what Obama said re; electricity”Under my programs the cost for electricity will necessarily sky rocket” since election Mr Obama has done all he could do INCREASE the price we pay for fossil fueled energy.
I am posting this to spice up the thread a little. A jam/tune to Kick back and listen to.
Congrats Democrats..you have a president who crawls to foreign leaders..because we correctly burn holy books that had been desecrated..even if burned on purpose..our soldiers are killed for a book?..I’ve said it before time to get tuff..and this Obama just doesn’t measure up to what a Commander and Chief should be…These sand snakes apologize for nothing..and they perceive us as week..BTW Iran closer to a nuke..so far sanctions and diplomacy are really working huh?
Here’s another Obama lie that Kirchubel,CD or any of the other liberals on this site won’t be responding to…ART Carney Obamas press puppet said today re: oil production that it takes 5 years for new wells to come on line..get that? 5 yrs..In the next breath this boy howdy say oil production is up under Obama more than it has been in the last 25 yrs???..If that’s true it’s in SPITE of Obama not bacause of the man..The leases in question that are producing were under George Bush’s watch..More Democratic lies and spin…
I’m sorry if good news makes you sad. I’m sure i would have felt the same way when George II was in office, but, funny, i can’t recall any good news when he was in power.
Here’s some good news for you..Obama wasn’t president
Think Obama created green jobs?..Think again 10 billion spent on green projects with jobs estimates anywherevfrom 100,000 to 2.5 million big spread huh.?.bigger than Aunt Obama trying to exit Marine One…Well the WSJ reports today that the numbers are so convoluted no one will never know..but be sure it was a lot less than any government lie..Green jon companies are now being accused of outright lying about how many hires were effect..and the White House has no systems in place to monitor..If ever there were a president that deserves impeachment it’s this one..he makes Carter look like Lincoln.
I guess that since you don’t know if a sufficient number of jobs were or were not created, you’ll just have to be angry for no good reason.
California gets the highest negative ratings than any other state in the Union..for it’s nanny state policies..Kirchubel is in his element..we know Mikeymoron..that no jobs are created..it’s kinda of why no ones singing “happy days”…
Shouldn’t it be easy to report verifiable job numbers? Oh, that’s right–with Obama there is that little category known as jobs “saved.” But, really–shouldn’t it be fairly easy? Mike………………………….anyone???
.
Unemployment is dismal..we’re talking a minimum of 9%..insome demographics..as must as 20%..it all boils down to if the American electorate is as stupid as people like Kirchubel..Shoeshine raps a good tune..we got a 50 50 shot of retaining the republic..
They are, they are Gary. I hope we still get a 50/50 shot by next November.
fagitaboutit.
Ok try this

For some disturbingly lustful listens see Nick DeCicco’s Oscar winners harder to pick without seeing films.
Next week I was going to do Rodney Dangerfield jokes you know “I get no respect”….. for the game.
This is a shout out to Scott Adams. Can you have Dilbert wear a “Smart is Sexy” T-shirt in a strip? Has Dilbert ever changed his shirt? or Would this be total sacrilege? http://www.dilbert.com/
Tcc43 here’s how they work You give Keep Jones or Kirchey hard numbers like Bush averaged 450billion/yr deficit and you acknowledge that stinks.but Obama is averaging 1.4Trillion and rising..they come back with deflects like..handed a bad economy, war costs, housing bubble..all true..but since wars are winding down, and the economy is turning around according to the Dems..why triple the deficit??..They can’t answer..
Oh I know..But if there’s a God in heaven it will be done..and if not it’s not the fault of the stars but in ourselves,
so…. if the repubs win, it’s God’s will, but if they lose it’s your fault? Cool. You are on par with God. How does it feel? And apparently, to you, God is a star? Are you Sirius?
Not at all..just wishful thinking..
Wishing on a star? Is that different from praying?
In my opinion couldn’t be more different..but you said it..so you no doubt have your own thoughts…
“Ron Paul, the GOP’s libertarian outlier, has a plan to more than offset his tax cuts by spending cuts, and reduce the deficit by $2.2 trillion, but by the politically improbable course of eliminating five Cabinet departments and greatly reducing spending on popular social programs.”
“Outlier”, “Politically Improbable”, Eliminating Five Cabinet Departments”, “Greatly Reducing Spending”… This sounds like REAL change. All the other candidates are saying the same stuff they’ve always said and they will continue to do the same stuff they’ve always done… and that mean we, the people, will continue to suffer the same results that we have been suffering from.
You want something different? You’re going to have to do something different. In this case, you’re going to have to see behind the facade of the establishment (be it politicians or the media) and conclude that only Ron Paul has the plan for real change and he has multiple decades of consistent adherence to the principles of devolving power from the Federal government back to the individual State governments and not engaging in wars for the profits of corporations.
Yes, Ron Paul is outside of the mainstream of political thought… and THANK GOD FOR THAT!
Reducing the national debt by $2 trillion is easy. Just read my column “Let’s reduce the national debt $2 trillion today.” No muss no fuss.
How does one get to that column..archives?
On a computer screen go to the top of the page and type Kirchubel in the Search in Site box
Vielen Danke
Now, since the Federal Reserve bought its $2 trillion worth of our Treasury Bonds by creating money out of thin air, and since we Americans are the ones who actually paid for them with an “inflation tax” by having all of our dollars reduced in value, I say that we citizens should demand that the Fed return those Bonds to the U.S. Treasury for shredding. This would reduce our national debt by $2 trillion.
We agree with Mike Kirchubel this is a good idea.
Is that the royal “we?”
I think that’s the certifiably insane “we”
Is that the royal “we” non tous les deux
insane we oui
They would just print more…and there’s only so much little drink umbrellas, cheap pens, and lead tainted dog food and toys we can buy from China..just dis-able the presses..a little sand in the gears,,

Thought as much…more than 3 sentences,no book titles or rhymes.

Correction He does tend to be much more coherent (laser like) THAN myself. Proves my point right there.
Ah your OK..just please no more book titles..
Bit wonky of foreign policy though..don’t know if I’d be comfortable with him as C in C..it’s a tuff job..age might be a factor too..
