Frank Tallerico, Jr. – The Impact on Children……Also in Nebraska were I am from you can kind of see the impact of the NAFTA highway, in that they revamped a 2 lane highway making it a 4 lane highway, but do not put entrance/exit ramps onto the small towns previously served by the 2 lane highway, this effectivly closes off the small communities. Also they are letting the rural small bridges collapse, cutting off the farms. What about all the GMO crops we are all basically forced to grow. There is no such thing as universal service as mail delivery becomes difficult, also rural phone and power lines are not kept up. They are making us more and more dependent so that independent farmers can not grow crops to feed us and keep the US self sufficient food wise. Look how they have cut off the water to Central California, they do not want us to be able to feed ourselves.

On December 8, 1993, a triumphant President Bill Clinton signed the North American Free Trade Association (NAFTA) bill into law. Reflecting popular sentiment, he praised this monumental economic treaty by stating, “I believe we have made a decision now that will permit us to create an economic order in the world that will promote more growth, more equality, better preservation of the environment, and a greater possibility of world peace.” Initially, NAFTA supporters promised a plethora of benefits for the countries of North America. American proponents promised that NAFTA would create more jobs reflecting higher wages in the United States,(1) while also reducing the U.S. trade deficit with Mexico and Canada.(2) Mexican leaders claimed that the bill had the potential to create a sizable and revitalized middle class in Mexico by raising wages and strengthening living conditions for its impoverished citizens. Mexican President Carlos Salinas, whose administration had been tarnished by charges of corruption, proclaimed that NAFTA would, at long last, enable Mexico to join the developed world.(3) Likewise, leaders from both countries pitched NAFTA as a solution to illegal migration across the U.S.-Mexico border; with more and better-paying jobs, as well as cheaper goods in Mexico, the United States would no longer be an attractive land of opportunity.(4) Regrettably, the majority of these promises never materialized. The limited benefits that have resulted from NAFTA have been overshadowed by its numerous failures, which have both negatively affected the United States and greatly harmed Mexico, especially in the agricultural sector………..NAFTA was pushed through by both the Democrats and the Republican and finally signed by Clinton/Gore

The Congressional Budget Office reports the deal cuts only $15 billion in spending while increasing tax revenues by $620 billion, what amounts to a 41:1 ratio of tax increases to spending cuts…………..

The Senate bill allows the so-called payroll tax holiday to expire, which will raise taxes on all Americans who earn an income. Democrats said this is not the case, that taxes will not rise, but the truth is the tax burden on working Americans will go up by at least 2 percent………………

The wealth creators and producers — the entrepreneurs, small business owners, and maligned “rich” taxpayers — earning over $400,000 will see their top tax rate increase to 39.6 percent……………..

In addition, the double tax on dividends and capital gains will increase from 15 percent to 20 percent, thus adding more disincentive for the producers to create wealth that translates into jobs and prosperity for millions of Americans……………..
