I want to commend and offer my gratitude to two young men who came to my aid on Aug. 1. I had tripped and fallen on a neighbor’s porch, breaking both of my arms. They immediately came to my side, asked if I was OK. When I replied that I was not, one of them crossed the street to notify my husband, while the other laid beside me on the concrete and put padding under my head while calming my anxiety and providing soothing words of comfort.
These outstanding teenagers remained at my side until my departure by ambulance to the hospital.
The parents of these fine young men should be extremely proud of their efforts on my behalf. Although I did not get either of their names, I offer my heartfelt thanks for their timely assistance, compassion and support.
The youth of our community are so often shown in a negative light in the press. Our community is a better place with men like these in it. The future of our nation is bright when communities are based on citizens such as these.
