Why do we need spiritual leaders?

I am directing this to all the fervent religious people out there, those who might have some important answers for all of us mere mortals.

Question: If anyone can get on bended knees or a person can travel to the holy land while allegedly communicating with God (or whomever), why in the world do we need pastors, deacons, fathers, holy men, seers (and Roebucks?) or even the pope to talk to some unseen, unknown spirit of the universe?

I put it to you. We await your enlightenment.

Seers and Roebucks..man Harry I couldn't stop laughing...are you a stand up comedian.?.Ever see a symphony orchestra cut loose w/o a conductor?..doesn't work..Everyone needs a Daddy Harry at some time in their lives..some seem to always need a "Daddy"...for some it's a priest..for others a don't worry I'll make it all better,and equal for you president...in the end though they all disappoint..and how we handle that disappointment is what we turn out to be...dependent,independent,self aware,self loathing,happy,sad,mean,kind,sane.insane..SoHarry...who's your daddy baby?

I do not, I do not, I do not... I say, I do not believe it! Harry and I agree on something! (... probably for different reasons, but it's a start!)

IMHO, we don't need anyone in order to talk to God. The types of leaders you mention, again IMHO, are organizational leaders, although I know some people and religions believe otherwise. Just for perspective, although I "fervently" believe in God, I don't have much faith in organized religion.
