As far as the letter writer, her opinions on morality remind me of the interesting phenomenon I've observed of the by-some-standards "morally depraved" younger person becoming "morally conservative" as they age. Hypocritical or a normal process of time? That would be where the judgement/opinion lies, I suppose.

Danny Buntin, I'd certainly agree that religion in general is not overly kind to atheists--nor to those with different beliefs. There are, of course, people who are exceptions to the "rule" of religion. And generally also vilified--as not proper practioners of whatever religious faith it is, or worse.

Another typical comment, taken directly from the "How to talk to an Atheist" playbook. Kind of spooky that all this occurs under the nose of the naive atheist. Unfortunately, all I read is lip service. Which is typical when it comes to religion.

The doubters don't anything they claim to know. Neither do the believers, but believers readily admit it's faith. However, doubters only have faith in their own understanding, whether it's "original" thinking or interpretation of the thinking of others. At the end of the day, doubters worship their own understanding. What most common doubters, like the ones in this average county, do not know or want to admit, is that the full implication of their own godless thinking is not something they even want. They are products of a system of philosophy, the creators of which concede the point I just made. If believers continue to believe, we can allow God to maintain control over our hearts to establish the sort of peace and goodness any community needs, and this will be an umbrella for the doubters to thrive in, as all will be able to do, including all sinners besides believers and doubters. Only we cannot take credit for the peace, it's God in us.

Mr. Practical, thanks for the intro!! :) Ms. Bertolino, are your views based on religious or political beliefs? Your disdain for the president and support for the GOP is obvious and precisely the archaic views expressed by ultra Conservative candidates during the election process. What do you mean who is in control? Everyone complaining about poor morals and god being “removed” from someplace should spend less time counting on and raising up an alleged entity and take care of their own business. THAT is control and with sensible control positive results can be attained.
