Have you heard about the new teaching program called Common Core? If you haven’t, you really need to educate yourself about this new method to educate our children.
In a recent radio interview, a school teacher asks a student to multiply three times four and gets the answer of 11, if he or she can explain the method verbally of getting that answer it is OK.
Are you old enough to remember “new math?” Does this also mean, if you can spell close enough so that others can understand your meaning, it, too, will be considered OK?
How about being able to read printing, but not cursive; will we pass John or Joan? Who will read our founding documents to them? No sir, the “greatest generation” was educated by real teachers, not by unions. My teachers were good enough to make me learn the proper methods to add, spell and determine. Thank you to all my teachers who put my education before their ease. Trust me, I was not a good student until one teacher inspired me to learn.
Parents, if you don’t get involved with the methods being proposed and instituted by your government, the outcome of your child’s education can be laid at your feet.
