I would like to thank both the Solano County Animal Control officers as well as the Suisun City Police Department officers for their actions on Wednesday, July 16. On that day, they cited one of my neighbors for animal cruelty and confiscated the poisoned trap he used in his backyard.
Thankfully, the latest intended victim, Marsh Cat, was rescued from the trap by her owner Jenelle before she was killed.
If the suspect was bothered by cats in his yard, he should have voiced his concerns to his neighbors. The only legal step to take after trapping an animal in your yard is to take it to the Animal Control office.
At least eight cats disappeared in our neighborhood last fall, and two more were found poisoned. Killing animals is a violation of the California Penal Code. I urge others who care about animals to join me in contacting the Solano County District Attorney’s Office to seek justice in the prosecution of the suspect.
Thank you also to Ian Thompson for caring enough to write the articles about the missing cats on Kinglet Street.
