Thanks for Armjio High School support

By From page A11 | June 25, 2014

This letter is a public thank you to all who supported the Armijo High School aquatics wine-tasting fundraiser hosted by Vezer Family Vineyard on May 31.

As context, the Fairfield-Suisun School District at one point cut all sports. High school sports have been reinstated, but at a significantly reduced level, requiring more support from the parents and the community. The aquatics programs (swim and water polo teams) must rely on the booster club to pay for equipment, and any “nonleague” competition, and parents for transportation.

In our first wine-tasting fundraiser, the Armijo Aquatics boosters raised almost $3,500 at a very nice event at the Blue Victorian Winery. We thank our host Vezer Family Vineyard, and our two food sponsors, Barrel 2 Bottle bottle shop of Vacaville and Mankas Steak House. We also especially thank Dynasty restaurant, and our co-sponsor, the Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club. The volunteers from the Rotary club’s “team tigers” made this event possible. We also thank the several raffle donors and dessert auction donors who greatly contributed to our success.

Lastly, I thank this whole community for its support for youth and high school sports. These programs build strong bodies, strong minds and leadership. These sports programs build hope, an achievement atmosphere, and lasting relationships. Please support these, and all, youth sports programs.
