Former FF resident, my husband had a similar experience in school. Started off not speaking English well (is now fluent thanks to television as a young one), was yelled at, shook, dragged off to the principal's office by one teacher who was sure he understood her and was just bad, I guess. And told he was stupid, etc., by others. In the local school district. He isn't stupid, he's quite bright, but did have undiagnosed dyslexia and some other learning disabilities. Diagnosed as an adult. He did well enough to graduate, but it was really sad that he could go through school w/o the proper help. That said, there are terrific teachers out there who deserve thanks. And there are (or at least were) people in teaching jobs that should not be teachers.

Which ones should I thank Marilyn?

The ones that told me I was stupid or the ones that told me that I wouldn't amount to anything?

Sorry, but the list of teachers that I would thank for anything is quite small... and I would guess that most, if not all, are retired.
