Solano 360: Another scheme?

Web_OurView_YourView

Why do governments that supposedly have a shortage of resources always have plenty of resources to get tangled up in property development schemes?

The county currently has a budget shortage to the point that roads are not being maintained, and Vallejo is coming off a municipal bankruptcy. Yet, the county had $4 million to “research” a shopping development for the fairgrounds. Now they want to sell $94 million worth of bonds to underwrite this lavish scheme.

If this shopping center concept is such an obvious moneymaker, wouldn’t there be a line of capitalists queuing up to get in on the deal, by risking their own money to get in on the profit? At least with private investors, if there is a loss, we the citizenry will not be holding the bag. If all the rainbow and sunshine estimates the consultants have theorized will happen don’t, will the consultants make up the shortfall? Will the politicians pushing it make up the shortfall?

Nope, we the people of Solano County will pay.

The $4 million spent on consultants could have gone to fixing up the dilapidated fairgrounds. If the horse track/golf course is surplus property, then sell it off to a group that can put it to good use. Then take the proceeds and focus on upgrading the portion that will be used by the people. Then have the county return its focus to basics we the citizens of Solano County expect. Hint: developing shopping centers is not one of them.

Yeah, all these schemes also cracks me up, the wasting of consultation fees time after time after time, and not small amounts either. What do we vote for these PPL for, and what are the city and county employees for, especially the planners?? FIRE THEM ALL. As to another shopping center (??), what a waste. How many have been unsuccessful, a blight on their neighborhoods?? Just come over and look at Heritage Park Shopping center (Raley's) in Suisun, the center looks NEAR HALF vacate, WHY???? IMO very very poor, overly GREEDY property managers, continually raising rents. My Dentist moved out of there because of this, buying their own office space in Vacaville, with a mortgage payment being less than the rent that she WAS PAYING, before they tried to raise their rent. These property managers just can not see the forest for the trees. AND they were still doing this during the worst times of the economy. Just a matter of time, IMO, before Raleys calls it quits too. Then we'll have yet ANOTHER vacant center as the Mission Shopping center was, before Fairfield's WalMart happened. Well so far so good, not one word that I can see that I used, to be censored not having this post appear, as my LAST ONE :-). And I didn't see anything too bad the last time, almost giving up on this venue>>LOL

By the way the last post I made was under the opinion letter, "Media not telling truth about health care law." Showing my support for the President, but being how this publication is so ANTI Barack (Case in point, those, "Ramirez," political comics), I was censored and it never appeared, even though I received the CONFIRM email ???!!! Way to go, you right wing rag>>LOL LOL :-)

Mayor Osby Davis of vallejo sounds foolish wanting to waste even more money after vallejo's bankruptcy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypx-6Ok-i9M&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I just went to another dog and pony show called the dedication of the old court building remodel yesterday afternoon in FF. Tax and Spend Wolk was there to announce that no state money was being spent and that the money to remodel is coming from fees and fines for those with court problems. To make matters worse, the Courts and the DMV lost $2 BILLION on a computer system that doesn't work! Yet, no one but the taxpayer is held accountable! If the money wasters in government and the courts were held responsible for their waste, then there would not be a problem with Solano 360, the 311 system, the computer system for the courts and DMV, and a host of other wasteful projects. Shame on all government tax thieves and the taxpayers that let them get by with it!!!!
