Slow down in residential, school zones

OK, here we go again but it bears repeating: Yet another driver honking, tailgating, shaking their head looking at their speedometer and holding their hand up as if to as, “What am I doing,” following me down Marigold Drive.

If you haven’t experienced that, then you’re probably speeding, too. What is wrong with these people? There are people driving at speeds of 40 mph to 60 mph on that street all the time. The speed limit in a residential zone is 25 mph unless marked otherwise. This is nothing new; it always has been (Driving 101).

I always drive that speed, sometimes a little slower in neighborhoods and often get the same treatment. I know, maybe I’m only going 21 to 23 mph. Wow, that is terrible. Just think, though, if I wasn’t there they would probably be driving 40-plus mph. They shouldn’t complain because I am saving them money and possibly a child’s life.

Why is it so important to risk lives? What’s the hurry anyway?

I was pretty excited last week seeing the Police Department taking care of business. Now I don’t see them at all and that is the problem! There are way too many people speeding in this city, especially in residential areas and school zones (school zones, don’t get me started).

Their ignorance and arrogant attitudes are dangerous and they need to slow down or pay hefty fines.
