Put money into schools

By From page A8 | July 20, 2014

For the past few years school district officials have whined that they don’t have money for sports, music, or anything extracurricular for our students. So the Fire Department, Police Department, and parents have dug deep into their pockets to pay for these activities.

The district said, “If you want your student to participate, you, the parent, has to pay.”

So it’s been done like that. We have schools that desperately need resource counselors, on-site security, nurses, etc. But still the district doesn’t have the funds. But they have the $128,000 to piss away on some stupid, will-never-be-used, brand-spankin’-new idea from some Flippen guy who invented a new, shiny “rock” for school districts to buy to make themselves feel better about doing nothing for students and allowing them to go on an all-expense-paid excursion for nothing.

This money is for our students! Then I read that the new superintendent is getting a healthy raise? What about the teachers and other school support staff? You know, the people doing the work! Let us make sure exactly who our school district has in mind to benefit schools, students or administrators.
