The president, Barack Obama, and Sen. Harry Reid continue to denigrate any Republican politician who has the backbone to disagree with the president’s policies. They imply that anyone who stands up to the efforts of the Democrats to impose their “Brave New World” experiment is racist. President Obama’s leadership would make Saul Alinsky (American community organizer and writer) proud.
I believe that any leader who can put forward a well-seasoned position, based on facts and the truth, should hold to his position at all cost. If you have a position that you believe to be right, how can it be justified for it to be bargained away by being bullied? I remember Churchill saying to a graduating class “never, never, never give up.”
If you believe, as I do, that the president has confused his position as “political leader” with that of “ruler” (at least in his mind), then Barack Obama issuing “directives” to go around Congress is a flagrant disregard for our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Where would we be today if Abraham Lincoln had given in to the Democrats of the day and sought to find a consensus on freedom for the slaves? Would we still have slavery in several of the Southern states? Would we have bargained and allowed slavery to continue so we could say that we sought to be reasonable and find consensus? No, Lincoln held to his well-reasoned beliefs, did not waiver and paid the ultimate sacrifice at the hands of his assassin.
As a well-known lawyer was quoted, “If you have the truth, beat on the truth, if you have the facts, beat on the facts, if you have neither, beat on the table.”
